Little Miss Brooke came to my studio recently for her newborn session. She was absolute perfection for her debut in front of my camera. Brooke was a little anxious to come into the world. She wasn’t due until January 26th, but much to her parents surprise, she was born on New Years Eve! Thankfully, this sweet baby girl was completely healthy and able to go home from the hospital right away! She was definitely ready to meet her mom and dad!

Kelli, Brooke’s mom, is a friend of a friend so we had a good time reminiscing during the session. She also told me how her husband plays guitar and one of her favourite things to do so far is watch him play and sing for newborn Brooke.

I always love to hear about the significance of baby’s names. Brooke’s middle name, Barbara, is actually Kelli’s mother’s name. She passed away when Kelli was 18, what a special way for her to honour her mom. Kelli also told me about Brooke’s furry sibling, their French Bulldog Finely. She said their pup is so sweet and gentle with Brooke and they just know the two will be best friends as they grow together.

Since baby girl was born early she was still extra sleepy. She just melted into every pose I put her in. Kelli was happy to use dainty props and colours, so I brought out my adorable purple head band from Ivy & Twine. I, of course, had to wrap her up and put her in my favourite little newborn prop bed from The Original Photoblocks Props in Netherlands. I try to support Canadian vendors as much as possible, and that’s not hard when you see things like the pink ruffle wrap from Mia Joy Studio!

I could have posed baby girl Brooke all day. She was a joy to photograph. I had such a hard time picking out a few to share, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
