Baby Ellis’ newborn session was a very fun one for me! This little guys mama, Traci, went to the same school as I did growing up. Traci’s mom had been following my photography online and when it was time for Ellis’ newborn session, they drove an hour and a half to my studio! I was honored they chose my as their newborn photographer, especially coming such a distance.

Traci was in my younger sister’s class growing up and eventually her mom decided to try homeschooling which is how Traci actually met her husband, Jeremy- at a homeschool conference! It’s wonderful how decisions we make as parents can lead our children down a path to the person they are meant to share their life with.

For the solo part of the session I wanted to focus on timeless poses for Ellis. Since neutral woodland colors were a part of his nursery, I made sure to incorporate one of my favorite little wooden bowls and baby bed prop. Ellis looked so snug in the bed with a cream bonnet I found at Mia Joy Studio. The wooden bed was the perfect place to rest Ellis on some soft neutral Flokati from Luneberry.

Ellis was very sleepy newborn for most of his session. When he woke up though, he showed his strength! I think Traci and Jeremy are going to have one determined little munchkin on their hands. I was glad he was awake for some of his newborn session because I got the greatest photograph of him looking bright-eyed and directly into my camera when Dad was holding him.

Traci wanted to use mint green and neutral colors to match Ellis’ nursery. I’m normally very simplistic in my parent shots, which was exactly what Traci and Jeremy wanted.

It is always nice to connect with people from your past, and especially to be a part of such a special time, as their family starts to grow!
